Bacon & Cheese Rolls are golden, flaky bites combining crispy bacon and melted cheese inside soft, buttery dough, delivering a perfect harmony of flavors and textures. Easy to make, these savory snacks are perfect for parties, quick treats, or portable on-the-go enjoyment, with customizable options to suit all tastes and dietary preferences.

Ingredients

Dough

  • Ready-made puff pastry or crescent roll dough – quantity as per package instructions

Filling

  • Bacon slices – 6 to 8 slices, cooked crispy and chopped
  • Cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or preferred melty cheese) – 1 to 1.5 cups shredded or sliced

Topping

  • Butter – 2 tablespoons, melted (for brushing)

Optional Herbs and Spices

  • Black pepper – pinch
  • Garlic powder – pinch
  • Fresh herbs (parsley, rosemary, thyme) – 1 to 2 teaspoons, finely chopped
  • Chili flakes – optional, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough and Filling: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or as recommended for your dough. Lay the dough out on a clean surface and cut into even strips or rectangles. Cook the bacon until crispy yet pliable, then chop into bite-sized pieces. Grate or slice the cheese and have it ready for layering.
  2. Assemble the Rolls: Place a small amount of bacon and cheese on each piece of dough, avoiding overfilling to prevent leaks. Sprinkle optional herbs or spices if desired. Carefully roll the dough over the filling and firmly seal the edges by pressing them together. Arrange the rolls seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Add Butter and Bake: Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter for a golden, glossy finish. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the dough is puffed and golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Allow cooling slightly before serving to set the filling and avoid burns.

Notes

  • Use thick-cut bacon for richer flavor and better texture.
  • Keep the dough chilled to make it easier to handle and to ensure flaky rolls.
  • Seal edges well by pinching or using a fork to prevent leaks during baking.
  • Don’t overfill the rolls to avoid bursting.
  • Let rolls cool after baking so the cheese sets and bites are safer to eat.
