Description

A quick and flavorful Beef Stir Fry featuring tender beef strips and vibrant vegetables tossed in a savory sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights, this dish is packed with protein and fresh veggies, offering a healthy, balanced, and customizable meal that’s ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef

  • 8 oz flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

Vegetables

  • 1 cup bell peppers, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup snap peas
  • 1 medium carrot, sliced

Sauce & Aromatics

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil, plus extra for cooking
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar or honey
  • Optional: chili flakes or sriracha, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep the ingredients: Thinly slice the beef against the grain for tenderness. Chop vegetables into bite-sized pieces for even cooking. Mince garlic and ginger finely to release their fragrant oils.
  2. Marinate the beef: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and sugar. Toss the beef strips in this marinade and let sit for at least 10 minutes to deepen flavor and tenderize.
  3. Cook the beef: Heat a large pan or wok over high heat with a small amount of oil. Stir fry the beef in batches until just browned. Remove the beef and set aside to avoid overcooking.
  4. Stir-fry the vegetables: Add more oil if needed. Start by stir frying firmer vegetables like carrots and broccoli for a few minutes. Then add quicker-cooking vegetables such as bell peppers and snap peas, cooking until crisp-tender.
  5. Combine and finish: Return the beef to the pan, pour in any remaining sauce, and toss everything together over high heat until heated through and glossy. Adjust seasoning with extra soy sauce or a dash of vinegar if desired. Optionally, add chili flakes or sriracha for heat.

Notes

  • Use high heat to keep vegetables crisp and beef juicy.
  • Slice beef thinly to ensure quick, tender cooking.
  • Cook beef in batches to prevent overcrowding and get a good sear.
  • Use fresh garlic and ginger for best flavor; avoid powders for this recipe.
  • Keep the sauce simple: soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil enhance flavor without overpowering.
  • Feel free to swap proteins like chicken, tofu, or shrimp for variety.
  • For gluten-free, replace soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
  • Serve over jasmine rice, quinoa, cauliflower rice, or noodles as preferred.
  • Leftovers store well refrigerated up to 3 days and can be frozen for up to 2 months.
