Ingredients

Scale

Crescent Roll Dough

  • 1 package crescent roll dough (8 rolls)

Filling

  • 1 cup cooked chicken, finely chopped or shredded
  • 1 cup broccoli florets, finely chopped (fresh or steamed)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional Add-ins

  • Red pepper flakes (to taste)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon juice (a squeeze to brighten filling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: Finely chop the cooked chicken and broccoli into bite-sized pieces. In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken, broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, mayonnaise or Greek yogurt, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until creamy and evenly combined.
  2. Preheat the oven and prepare dough: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface and press the seams together to form one solid sheet. Cut the dough into 8 equal squares or triangles.
  3. Fill the dough cups: Lightly grease a muffin tin to prevent sticking. Place each piece of dough into a muffin cup, pressing down and shaping it into a cup form. Spoon a generous amount of the chicken broccoli filling into each dough cup, filling almost to the top.
  4. Bake until golden and bubbly: Bake the filled cups in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and the cheese filling is bubbly. Monitor closely towards the end to avoid over-browning.
  5. Cool slightly and serve: Remove the muffin tin from the oven and allow the crescent cups to cool for about 5 minutes. Carefully remove from the tin and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • Use finely chopped broccoli to ensure even cooking and a better texture.
  • Do not overfill the dough cups to prevent filling from spilling out during baking.
  • Allow crescent roll dough to thaw properly before use to achieve flaky texture without tearing.
  • Opt for sharp cheddar cheese for more pronounced flavor and excellent melt.
  • Leftover cooked chicken can be used to save time.
  • Lightly grease muffin cups or use silicone liners to prevent sticking.
  • Frozen broccoli can be used if thawed and drained well to avoid soggy filling.
