Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp

  • 12 oz medium-sized peeled shrimp (fresh or thawed)

Creamy Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1/3 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

Pasta and Seasoning

  • 8 oz fettuccine or linguine pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the shrimp with salt, pepper, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Sauté the shrimp until they turn pink and opaque, about 2 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside to prevent overcooking.
  2. Make the Creamy Sauce: Reduce heat to medium and add the minced garlic to the same skillet. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly, and let it simmer gently for 3–4 minutes to thicken.
  3. Add Cheese and Seasoning: Gradually whisk in the freshly grated parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and additional red pepper flakes if desired. Stir in fresh basil leaves for a bright herbal note.
  4. Combine with Pasta and Shrimp: Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain. Toss the pasta into the skillet with the creamy sauce. Add the cooked shrimp back in and mix thoroughly to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
  5. Serve Hot and Enjoy: Plate the creamy marry me shrimp pasta and garnish with extra basil leaves or parmesan cheese if desired. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use the freshest shrimp possible for the best texture and flavor.
  • Do not overcook the shrimp; remove from heat as soon as they turn pink to keep them juicy.
  • Simmer the sauce slowly to prevent curdling and achieve a perfect creamy consistency.
  • Reserve a small amount of pasta water before draining to loosen the sauce if needed.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan cheese rather than pre-grated for enhanced flavor.
