Description
Fresh Strawberry Mousse is a light, airy dessert that perfectly balances the natural sweetness and vibrant flavor of ripe strawberries with smooth whipped cream and a hint of vanilla and lemon. Easy to make and versatile for any occasion, this mousse offers a refreshing and healthier indulgence that can be enjoyed solo, as a topping, or enhanced with creative variations.
Ingredients
Strawberry Base
- Fresh strawberries – 2 cups, hulled and washed
- Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
Gelatin Mixture
- Gelatin powder – 1 teaspoon
- Cold water – 2 tablespoons
Whipped Cream Mixture
- Heavy whipping cream – 1 cup, chilled
- Sugar – 3 tablespoons
- Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- Preparing the Strawberries: Wash and hull the fresh strawberries. Puree most of the strawberries in a blender or food processor until smooth, reserving a few chopped strawberries to fold in later for added texture.
- Blooming the Gelatin: Sprinkle the gelatin powder over cold water and let it absorb for about 5 minutes. Then gently warm the gelatin mixture until fully dissolved without boiling, to help the mousse set properly.
- Whipping the Cream: In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream with sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form, creating the mousse’s light and airy texture base.
- Combining Ingredients: Mix the strawberry puree with lemon juice and the dissolved gelatin. Allow this mixture to cool slightly, then gently fold it into the whipped cream to maintain airiness. Finally, fold in the reserved chopped strawberries for extra flavor bursts.
- Chilling the Mousse: Transfer the combined mixture into serving glasses or bowls. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or until the mousse is set but still soft and jiggly.
Notes
- Use ripe strawberries for the best flavor and vibrant color.
- Chill your mixing bowl and utensils to help the cream whip faster and achieve better volume.
- Fold ingredients gently and slowly to keep the mousse light and airy.
- Do not overheat the gelatin as excessive heat reduces its setting power.
- Refrigeration time is crucial for mousse to develop the ideal texture.
