Description

Garlic Butter Flatbread is a crispy, buttery treat infused with fresh garlic and parsley, perfect as a snack, appetizer, or side dish. This quick and easy recipe delivers a golden flatbread with crunchy edges and a soft center, enhanced by a rich garlic butter topping. Versatile and customizable, it pairs beautifully with soups, salads, and dips, making it an ideal choice for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 flatbread or naan (store-bought or homemade)

Garlic Butter Topping

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Optional

  • Olive oil for brushing (about 1 tablespoon)
  • Cheese (such as shredded mozzarella or parmesan, optional)
  • Additional herbs (rosemary, thyme, basil, optional)
  • Red pepper flakes or cayenne (optional for spice)
  • Lemon zest (optional for brightness)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Garlic Butter: Melt the unsalted butter gently over low heat. Add freshly minced garlic and cook just until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes, ensuring the garlic does not brown. Stir in chopped parsley, salt, and pepper, then remove from heat.
  2. Prepare the Flatbread: Place your flatbread or naan on a baking sheet or oven-safe pan. If desired, brush both sides lightly with olive oil to aid in crispiness.
  3. Apply the Garlic Butter: Evenly brush the garlic butter mixture across the flatbread, making sure to coat every inch and especially the edges for full flavor.
  4. Bake Until Crispy and Golden: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the flatbread for 8–10 minutes or until the edges turn golden and crisp. Watch closely to prevent burning the garlic.
  5. Serve Warm: Remove the flatbread from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Slice into pieces and serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for a robust flavor that garlic powder cannot replace.
  • Check baking progress at 6 minutes to avoid burning.
  • Apply garlic butter evenly with a brush for consistent flavor and crispiness.
  • Allow flatbread to come to room temperature before baking for better texture.
  • Adjust oven temperature slightly to achieve softer or crunchier results.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature up to 24 hours or refrigerate for 2-3 days.
  • Freeze flatbread wrapped tightly for up to 2 months.
  • Reheat in toaster or conventional oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes; avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.
