Ghost Fruit Skewers

Ghost Fruit Skewers

  • Author: Mary
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 6–8 skewers
  • Diet: Gluten Free, Vegan (if chocolate chips replaced with fruit eyes)

Description

Ghost Fruit Skewers are a fun, healthy, and visually playful snack made of fresh fruit shaped like little ghosts. Quick to assemble and customizable, they are perfect for kids’ parties, Halloween celebrations, or anytime you want a festive, guilt-free treat bursting with natural sweetness and vibrant colors.

Ingredients

Fruit and Skewer Ingredients

  • White grapes (whole, firm) – enough to thread 2 or 3 per ghost body per skewer
  • Bananas – peeled and sliced into thick rounds
  • Mini chocolate chips or raisins – for ghost eyes
  • Wooden skewers – as needed to hold fruit
  • Optional melons (cantaloupe or honeydew) – cut into bite-sized cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Fruit: Wash all fruit thoroughly. Peel bananas and slice into thick rounds. Set aside whole grapes. Cut melon into bite-sized cubes if using. This prep keeps assembly quick and clean.
  2. Assemble the Ghost Bodies: Thread two or three white grapes vertically onto the skewer to form the ghost’s body, using their round shape and pale color to mimic a floating ghost.
  3. Add Personality with Eyes: Gently press two mini chocolate chips or raisins into the top grape to create eyes. Using a toothpick, make tiny indentations to help eyes stick securely.
  4. Alternate Fruit for Color and Texture: Add a slice of banana or melon after the ghost on the skewer to add variation and enhance visual appeal and flavor. Continue alternating fruits to desired length.
  5. Final Touches and Serve: Arrange completed Ghost Fruit Skewers on a platter. Optionally chill briefly to keep fruit fresh and crisp before serving.

Notes

  • Choose firm grapes to hold better on skewers and avoid bruising.
  • Use toothpicks carefully to place eyes without damaging the fruit.
  • Keep fruits chilled to preserve freshness and shape.
  • Eat soon after assembling to prevent browning, especially bananas.
  • Make snack-size skewers for easy handling and less mess.
