Scale
Dough Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
Filling Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Glaze Ingredients
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: Warm the milk to a comfortable temperature and sprinkle the yeast over it. Let it activate for about 5 minutes until foamy. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Mix in the eggs and melted butter, then pour in the yeast mixture. Knead until you get a soft, smooth dough that springs back when touched.
- Let Dough Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and leave in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until it doubles in size.
- Roll Out and Fill: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle. Spread softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle generously with cinnamon and brown sugar to make the filling.
- Form the Rolls: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 even slices and arrange them neatly in a buttered baking dish, leaving space for a second rise.
- Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a towel and let rise for 30-45 minutes until puffed and nearly doubled.
- Bake to Golden Perfection: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown but still soft. Avoid over-baking.
- Glaze and Serve: While warm, drizzle the rolls with the vanilla powdered sugar glaze made by mixing powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Serve fresh to enjoy the gooey texture and sweet cinnamon aroma.
Notes
- Always proof your yeast in warm milk for optimal dough rise.
- Do not skip the second rise to ensure fluffy rolls with a tender crumb.
- Roll the dough tightly to prevent the filling from spilling during baking.
- Soften butter to room temperature for easy spreading.
- Drizzle glaze while rolls are still warm for best absorption.
