Description

These One-Hour Cinnamon Rolls offer a fast, easy, and delicious way to enjoy soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls with rich cinnamon flavor. Perfect for busy mornings or last-minute cravings, they feature a tender dough made from simple pantry ingredients and are ready in about an hour without sacrificing the warmth and comfort of classic cinnamon rolls.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¾ cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Filling Ingredients

  • ¼ cup melted butter (for filling)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons milk (or as needed for desired consistency)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Yeast Mixture: Warm your milk to about 110°F (43°C), then stir in the granulated sugar and sprinkle the active dry yeast over the top. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy and bubbly to activate the yeast.
  2. Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and the yeast mixture. Stir until a smooth, slightly sticky dough forms. Knead gently for about 5 minutes by hand or with a stand mixer to develop gluten for structure and softness.
  3. Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangle approximately 12 by 9 inches for an even and easy-to-roll shape.
  4. Add the Cinnamon Filling: Spread the melted butter evenly over the dough’s surface. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly on top and gently press so the filling adheres well.
  5. Roll and Slice: Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal. Using a sharp knife, slice into 9 or 12 equal pieces depending on your preferred roll thickness.
  6. Second Rise: Place rolls in a greased baking pan spaced slightly apart. Cover with a cloth and allow to rise at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes until puffy.
  7. Bake Until Golden: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 18 to 22 minutes until golden brown on top and fragrant.
  8. Make the Glaze: While the rolls bake, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to create a smooth glaze. Adjust milk to reach your desired drizzling consistency.
  9. Glaze and Serve: Remove rolls from the oven and drizzle the glaze over them while still warm. Serve immediately or let cool slightly for best enjoyment.

Notes

  • Use warm milk and butter to properly activate yeast and speed the rising process.
  • Do not add too much flour; the dough should remain slightly sticky for the softest texture.
  • Roll the dough firmly but gently to keep the filling inside and achieve neat slices.
  • Measure ingredients precisely for consistent results by using measuring cups or a kitchen scale.
  • Allowing a quick second rise is essential to get tender, fluffy rolls.
